FileRise Pro - Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of FileRise Pro licenses and the FileRise Pro add-on bundle provided via filerise.net. By purchasing a license or using FileRise Pro, you agree to these Terms.

1. FileRise core vs FileRise Pro

The main FileRise application ("FileRise core") is open-source and licensed separately under the MIT License at https://github.com/error311/FileRise .

FileRise Pro is a closed-source, commercial add-on bundle that provides additional features (for example: branding options and Pro-only endpoints). The terms in this document apply only to FileRise Pro and the purchase of Pro licenses.

2. Purchases and payment

Payments for FileRise Pro licenses are processed by Stripe. By completing a purchase, you confirm that:

  • You are authorized to use the payment method you provide.
  • The information you provide during checkout (such as email address) is accurate.
  • You understand that FileRise Pro is delivered as a digital product.

3. Digital products and delivery

After a successful payment, the system will:

  • Generate a FileRise Pro license key (for example, an FRP1... string).
  • Display the license key on a confirmation page and optionally provide it in a downloadable license file.
  • Provide a link to download the current FileRise Pro bundle ZIP.

You are responsible for downloading and safely storing your license key and Pro bundle.

4. License grant and restrictions

Your purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Install and use the FileRise Pro add-ons on servers you own or control.
  • Use FileRise Pro for your own internal purposes or for your organization’s needs.

You may not:

  • Redistribute or resell the FileRise Pro source code or Pro bundle to third parties.
  • Share your license key publicly or in a way that allows unrelated parties to use it.
  • Repackage FileRise Pro as a competing commercial product.
  • Remove or bypass license verification in order to use Pro features without a valid license.

The detailed license terms for the Pro bundle are also included in LICENSE-Pro.txt inside the Pro ZIP. In case of any conflict, the terms in that file apply to the use of the Pro add-ons on your servers.

You are purchasing a license to use the software, not ownership of the software itself. We may suspend or revoke a license if you breach these Terms or engage in fraud or abuse.

A FileRise Pro license is a one-time purchase for the current major version line (for example, FileRise Pro 1.x). It does not guarantee that specific features will be available forever, or that future major versions (for example, 2.x) will be included for free, unless explicitly stated otherwise at the time of purchase.

5. Instance IDs and license binding

Plans with 12 months of updates are bound to Instance IDs generated by your FileRise installation. You must provide valid Instance IDs during checkout or renewal. The license may only be used on the Instance IDs encoded in the license. If you need to add or change Instance IDs (for example, due to hardware changes), you must use the Pro portal tools or contact support to reissue the license.

Attempting to bypass Instance ID checks or share a license across unrelated installations is a breach of these Terms.

6. Updates, renewals, and version limits

Some plans include a 12-month updates window. If your updates window expires, your current Pro bundle continues to work, but you may need to renew to download newer bundles. Licenses may also be limited to specific major version lines (for example, 1.x). The current rules for your license are encoded in the license itself and displayed in the Pro admin panel.

7. Support and availability

Support is provided on a best-effort basis and is not a guaranteed service level agreement (SLA). We do not guarantee response times or availability of support channels. The download portal and checkout flow may be unavailable at times for maintenance or outages.

8. Refunds, chargebacks, and abuse

Because FileRise Pro is a digital product delivered immediately after purchase, refunds are not guaranteed. If you encounter technical issues activating your license, you may contact the maintainer with your purchase details, and reasonable efforts will be made to help resolve the issue.

Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of purchase and must include your checkout email, license key, and a brief explanation. We may ask you to attempt basic troubleshooting before issuing a refund. Approved refunds will deactivate the license.

Fraudulent payments, excessive chargebacks, or license abuse may result in license suspension or revocation. Chargebacks may result in immediate license revocation and loss of access to downloads.

9. Acceptable use and export compliance

You agree not to use FileRise Pro for unlawful activities, to infringe intellectual property rights, or to distribute malware. You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country subject to U.S. embargoes, and you are not on any U.S. or other applicable restricted or denied party lists. You may not use, export, or re-export FileRise Pro in violation of applicable export laws or sanctions. We may suspend or terminate licenses if we reasonably believe these requirements are not met.

10. Self-hosting and responsibility

FileRise Pro is designed to be installed on servers you control. You are solely responsible for:

  • Securing your own server, network, and storage.
  • Backing up configuration, licenses, and data.
  • Complying with any data protection or privacy laws that apply to your usage.
  • Complying with applicable laws, export restrictions, and any required third-party permissions.

This website and the FileRise Pro bundle do not manage your self-hosted data; that is entirely under your control.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

FileRise Pro is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. There is no guarantee that FileRise Pro will be error-free or uninterrupted.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author of FileRise and FileRise Pro shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business interruption) arising from or relating to the use or inability to use FileRise Pro, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

The total aggregate liability, if any, for claims arising out of or relating to your use of FileRise Pro shall not exceed the amount you paid for the license.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the author of FileRise and FileRise Pro from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the software, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Dispute resolution and venue

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at the support email listed on this site and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. If a dispute is not resolved within 30 days, you agree that it will be resolved by binding arbitration in Pennsylvania, USA, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court or seek injunctive relief to protect intellectual property rights.

If arbitration is not permitted by law for a particular claim, you agree that the state and federal courts located in Pennsylvania will have exclusive jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date will be adjusted. If you continue to use this site or FileRise Pro after changes are posted, you are agreeing to the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using FileRise Pro and this site.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
